Vladimir Putin draws border guards attention to North Caucasus

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday instructed the Federal Frontier Service to focus on border security in the south of the country, the Far East and the Arctic.

"We should pay special attention, of course everything is important in the protection of the state borders, there are no minor things, but nonetheless, special attention should be paid to the South and North Caucasus, to working with colleagues in the Central Asian republics, bearing in mind the situation in Afghanistan, and, of course, the Far East and the Arctic region," Putin said at a meeting with the Deputy Director and Head of the Border Service of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Kulishov, RIA Novosti reported.

In addition, the President instructed the Deputy Director to pay attention to the social problems of servicemen, including those serving in remote areas.
